Job Title

Staff IC Foundry Engineer

Role Summary

The Staff IC Foundry Engineer investigates and resolves silicon yield, reliability, and process-related issues for integrated circuits used in power systems. The role interfaces with internal design, product, test, and reliability teams and with external semiconductor foundries to drive manufacturing and yield improvements.

Focus is on data-driven root-cause analysis, process optimization (especially BCD technologies), and enabling robust, manufacturable IC products.

Experience Level

Senior level. This staff role typically expects extensive foundry and semiconductor process experience (commonly 7+ years) although no explicit years-of-experience was listed.

Responsibilities

Lead technical foundry interactions and engineering investigations to improve yield, reliability, and manufacturability.

  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve silicon yield, reliability, and process-related issues across IC product lines.
  • Serve as primary technical interface with semiconductor foundries to drive issue resolution and manage technical communications.
  • Develop deep understanding of foundry process technologies, with emphasis on BCD processes and device characteristics.
  • Design, execute, and analyze Design of Experiments (DOE) to identify root causes and optimize process windows.
  • Perform statistical analysis of wafer fabrication, parametric, electrical test, and yield data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate process changes and technology enhancements for impact on performance, reliability, manufacturability, and yield.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations recommending data-driven improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required for effective foundry engineering and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Must-have: Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and IC fabrication technologies.
  • Must-have: Experience with BCD process technologies, including device structures, process integration, and yield mechanisms.
  • Must-have: Proven experience investigating yield excursions and performing root-cause analysis.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience designing and analyzing DOE experiments.
  • Must-have: Strong proficiency in statistical data analysis and data-mining tools; ability to interpret large datasets and translate findings into actionable process improvements.
  • Must-have: Excellent communication skills for engaging and influencing external foundry partners and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Must-have: Self-driven, analytical, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience driving process and manufacturing improvements in production environments.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Materials Science, Physics Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master's degree specified).
