Staff Hardware Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Hexagon DSP AI verification team in Cork to lead verification of complex processor, DSP and AI accelerator designs. The role partners with architects, design and software teams to define and execute verification strategies, improve verification infrastructure, and mentor junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 7+ years of hardware design verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Define and drive verification plans, testbenches and coverage strategies for processor, DSP, AI accelerator and SoC designs.
• Implement and execute verification using constrained-random, coverage-driven, assertion-based and formal methods.
• Debug RTL and system-level issues via simulation, emulation and formal analysis.
• Develop reusable verification infrastructure, automation and verification IP to increase team productivity.
• Collaborate with architects and designers to identify verification risks early and review specifications.
• Analyze coverage/verification metrics and drive closure activities across projects.
• Contribute to methodology, tool and workflow improvements and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Extensive experience verifying complex CPU, GPU, DSP, AI accelerator or SoC designs.
• Strong SystemVerilog and UVM experience and familiarity with modern verification methodologies.
• Solid understanding of computer architecture, microprocessor design and digital design fundamentals.
• Proficiency in programming/scripting (C, C++, Python or similar) for testbench and tooling development.
• Proven debugging and problem-solving skills across design and system levels.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with formal verification methodologies and tools.
• Experience with emulation, FPGA prototyping or post-silicon validation.
• Knowledge of AI/ML acceleration architectures, vector processing or custom compute engines.
• Familiarity with low-power and performance verification techniques.
• Experience with high-performance microprocessor or DSP architectures.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is stated as a baseline. The posting lists Master's or PhD as preferred.
