Job Title

Staff Hardware AI Engineer

Role Summary

Work on AI-enabled automation for Arm digital hardware design and verification to improve engineering productivity and reduce cycle time. You will develop prototypes, integrate AI tools with EDA flows, and partner with hardware architects and engineering teams to deliver production-ready automation.

Position is based in Arm engineering locations with hybrid working; relocation assistance is not provided. Employer sponsorship for work permits is available for employer-paid costs only; personal visa fees are the candidate's responsibility.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Staff). No specific years-of-experience requirement stated.

Responsibilities

Deliver AI-based tools and drive adoption within hardware design and verification teams.

  • Design and build AI-driven automation for design and verification workflows (prototyping through evaluation).
  • Integrate AI skills with simulation flows, log analysis, code review and other EDA toolchains.
  • Work directly with engineers to capture real-world problems and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Evaluate EDA AI tools and quantify technical and productivity impact through experiments and prototypes.
  • Promote adoption: run demos and workshops, produce onboarding documentation, and remove blockers to deployment.
  • Debug and resolve cross-team issues encountered during real engineering use.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical experience required for the role.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with RTL design and verification methodology, including interfaces between RTL, testbench and Verification IP, and debugging compile/simulation issues.
  • Must-have: Domain knowledge of at least one major EDA vendor toolset.
  • Must-have: Practical experience using AI to automate engineering tasks (prompt design, structured outputs, tool integration).
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving and cross-team troubleshooting skills.
  • Must-have: Clear written communication to convert ambiguous inputs into requirements and plans.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python preferred) and experience integrating/orchestrating tools, parsing logs and running flows.
  • Experience in application-engineer or internal customer-facing roles translating user needs into solutions.
  • Familiarity with agentic workflows and tool-calling patterns.

Education Requirements
