Job Title

Staff Functional Test Verification/Simulation Engineer

Role Summary

Lead pre-silicon functional verification and simulation efforts for next-generation Arm CPU and GPU architectures from the Bangalore engineering hub. The role focuses on defining verification strategy, developing scalable testbenches, executing stress and performance tests, and correlating pre-silicon results with silicon validation.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requests 9–13 years of hands-on SoC verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing verification strategy, building reusable test infrastructure, and delivering functional closure across simulation and silicon validation.

  • Define and lead architecture and subsystem verification/simulation strategies in partnership with Design and DV teams.
  • Port, run, and validate functional, datapath, and performance test cases on simulation platforms.
  • Design scalable, reusable testbenches and stimulus using UVM, SystemVerilog, and C-based environments.
  • Develop pattern generation and simulation flows; correlate pre-silicon simulation with post-silicon validation.
  • Own functional coverage analysis and debug closure across RTL, testbench, and system-level issues using automation (Python).
  • Work across global engineering sites to align on verification goals and handoffs to silicon validation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 9–13 years of hands-on experience in complex SoC functional verification.
  • Deep working knowledge of Arm CPU/GPU architecture, instruction sets, and high-performance datapath pipelines.
  • Advanced proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM for testbench development; experience with C/C++ in co-simulation or test environments.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python for automation, data analysis, and regression management.
  • Proven experience executing functional and performance stress tests, pattern generation, simulation, and silicon validation handoffs.
  • Familiarity with industry EDA simulators and debug ecosystems (examples: Synopsys VCS, Cadence Xcelium/Palladium, Siemens Questa).
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of AMBA protocols (CHI, AXI, AHB), internal memory hierarchies, power-aware verification, emulation, or performance modeling.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
