Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Staff FPGA Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development and optimization of the FPGA fabric PPC within the Adaptive & Embedded Computing Group (AECG). Provide technical direction for design engineers, evaluate future architectures and foundry technologies, and coordinate with architecture, manufacturing, integration, and sign-off teams.
Focus on enabling new programmable fabric capabilities, driving design reviews, reducing product risk, and supporting test-chip and silicon evaluation across product roadmaps.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff) β typically 7+ years of relevant ASIC/FPGA design or silicon development experience.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include:
- Lead and execute FPGA fabric research and development projects to improve performance, power, and cost (PPC).
- Drive design reviews and provide technical guidance to engineers and architects.
- Evaluate new fabric features, architectures, process and packaging technologies.
- Enable and support test-chip designs and silicon evaluation with architecture and manufacturing teams.
- Develop and assess yield-improvement and binning/circuit margin techniques.
- Collaborate with digital, analog, physical design, custom layout, integration, and sign-off teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Proven experience in FPGA fabric or programmable-logic design and evaluation.
- Experience leading design reviews and guiding multi-discipline engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills.
- Experience with silicon evaluation, test-chip enablement, or working with manufacturing/foundry processes.
Nice-to-have:
- Programmable logic fundamentals; regulators, SRAM design, LUTs, NOCs, and clocking techniques.
- Binning and circuit margins (VID, aging); techniques for high performance and low power.
- Design for Manufacturing, Design for Debug, and micro-architecture of dense repeating structures.
