Staff, Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and debug low-level firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers and SoCs.
- Perform board bring-up, develop boot, power, and reset sequences, and validate hardware platforms.
- Use lab and debugging tools to diagnose issues across hardware and software boundaries.
- Drive firmware architecture, platform bring-up, validation, and production support.
- Develop and maintain tests, automation, and continuous-integration workflows for firmware.
- Participate in design reviews, define testing strategies, and set engineering standards.
- Mentor engineers, provide technical leadership, and contribute to cross-functional collaboration.
- Investigate complex, ambiguous problems and deliver practical, reliable solutions with tradeoffs in mind.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and characteristics:
- Proven experience writing and debugging low-level firmware in C/C++ for embedded systems and SoCs.
- Hands-on experience with board bring-up and developing boot/power/reset sequences.
- Strong hardware–software debugging skills using lab instrumentation and debug tools.
- Experience with RTOS and/or Embedded Linux and with developing automated tests and CI for firmware.
- Ability to lead technical efforts, contribute to design reviews, and mentor other engineers.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RISC-V platforms or custom CPU designs.
- Familiarity with production validation, scalability, and reliability engineering for embedded platforms.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
