Job Title

Staff Field Applications Engineer — Silicon

Role Summary

Own customer-facing technical execution from silicon evaluation through deployment for Arm-based server platforms. Serve as the primary technical interface to customers evaluating and deploying server-class Arm silicon.

Lead evaluations, board bring-up and debug, workload enablement, and cross-team coordination to accelerate customer time-to-value and production readiness.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8+ years in field applications, systems engineering, silicon applications engineering, or customer engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer technical engagement, evaluation lifecycle management, bring-up, and post-deployment support.

  • Act as the primary technical interface for customers evaluating and deploying server-class Arm silicon.
  • Lead product evaluation lifecycle: goal-setting, pre-delivery checks, Day-0 acceptance, execution, remote support, and post-eval closeout.
  • Run bring-up and debug across board, firmware, kernel/OS, and workload layers.
  • Drive Day-0 readiness and acceptance gates (BMC, console, firmware baseline, boot path, diagnostics).
  • Triage customer issues, define severity, collect evidence, and coordinate with L2/L3 engineering teams.
  • Support workload enablement and tuning for cloud-native, AI, and enterprise workloads.
  • Review customer design artifacts and deliver training and enablement for customer engineering and operator teams.
  • Translate field feedback into product, roadmap, and support content improvements.

Requirements

Required skills and background for successful performance in this role; preferred skills are listed separately.

Must-have:

  • Direct hands-on experience with companies building and delivering servers and network infrastructure (hyperscalers, CSPs, OEM/ODM server vendors, NIC/switch vendors).
  • Strong server platform expertise: CPU/memory hierarchy, PCIe, CXL awareness, NUMA fundamentals, and firmware/OS bring-up.
  • Linux systems troubleshooting and performance analysis in data center environments.
  • Proven experience supporting customers across pre-sales evaluation through post-silicon deployment and issue triage.
  • Effective communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
  • Practical ability to run board bring-up, debug across hardware/firmware/kernel/workloads, and enable/tune workloads.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with large-scale data center networking and rack/cluster-level server integration.
  • Familiarity with board bring-up workflows, diagnostics, and lab instrumentation.
  • Prior support of Tier-1 hyperscalers or major enterprise infrastructure programs.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple regions (US, Europe, China, Japan).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required; Master's degree preferred.
