Job Title

Staff Field Applications Engineer (FAE)

Role Summary

Technical lead for analog and power solutions supporting system-level design engagements with key customers. Provides pre- and post-design support including schematic review, component selection, lab validation, and issue resolution to drive design-in and design-win.

Works closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to deliver customer enablement, trainings, and field feedback that influence product roadmaps.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 8+ years experience in analog and power electronics, with customer-facing or hands-on design experience.

Responsibilities

The FAE will provide system-level power and analog technical leadership, hands-on lab work, and customer enablement.

  • Lead customer power architecture: power tree design, device selection, and system optimization
  • Perform technical design reviews, root-cause analysis, and hands-on debug for complex analog and power issues
  • Execute board bring-up, measurement, validation, and failure analysis
  • Evaluate new products and competitive positioning for PMICs, DC/DC, LDOs, battery management, and signal chain
  • Support system-level integration across power, processor, and connectivity subsystems
  • Provide technical guidance to accelerate designs from concept to production
  • Deliver field feedback to product teams to influence roadmap and feature prioritization
  • Develop and present customer trainings, technical seminars, and internal enablement content
  • Travel to customer sites as needed (approximately 10–20%)

Requirements

Must-have skills and constraints for the role.

  • Must be located in Southern California (Orange County preferred; Los Angeles and San Diego acceptable)
  • Authorized to work full-time in the United States without sponsorship
  • 8+ years of experience in analog and power electronics in customer-facing or design roles
  • Hands-on lab proficiency with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal analysis, and transient response measurements
  • Experience with system-level power architecture and schematic/PCB layout review for power integrity and thermal considerations
  • Bench characterization, validation, and debug experience for power systems
  • Strong communication skills for customer-facing technical guidance and training
  • Ability to work across domains (interaction of power with MCUs/MPUs, DDR, high-speed interfaces, and connectivity subsystems)
  • Self-driven and collaborative; able to own complex technical engagements end-to-end

Nice-to-have:

  • Deep expertise in power conversion and management (buck/boost converters, PMICs, LDOs, sequencing, battery systems)
  • Strong understanding of analog signal chain (amplifiers, data converters, sensors, noise/stability, signal integrity)

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred.
