Job Title
Staff Engineer - Standard Cell Design
Role Summary
Design, characterize, and automate standard-cell libraries for new DRAM process technologies. Deliver timing and power models, verification flows, and tooling in collaboration with DTCO and cross-functional teams.
Position is part of the standard-cell design team at Micron's Hyderabad site and requires collaboration with international colleagues.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include cell design, characterization, modeling, verification, and automation.
- Design and maintain standard cells for new DRAM products and emerging process technologies.
- Collaborate with DTCO to define standard-cell architecture and specifications.
- Characterize cells and produce timing/power models (liberty).
- Analyze quality of characterized models for performance, power, and functionality.
- Develop automation testbenches, flows, and tools to improve efficiency and support data analysis.
- Integrate RTL/GDS flows, perform block-level timing analysis and verification.
- Work with international teams to develop flows and deploy AI-based automation where appropriate.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: Solid CMOS circuit design knowledge; CMOS device physics and layout understanding.
- Experience in standard-cell flow from DTCO/specification through library release.
- RTL/GDS flow setup and block-level timing analysis; experience with ICC2; familiarity with Synopsys EDA flow preferred.
- Experience with characterization and signoff tools (e.g., PrimeTime, Solido Analytics); familiarity with characterization tools (Siliconsmart, Liberate) and Cadence Virtuoso preferred.
- Familiarity with analog/digital simulation tools (HSPICE, FINESIM, Verilog HDL) and Cadence Virtuoso.
- Proficiency in scripting for automation and data analysis (Skill, TCL, Perl, Python).
-
Nice-to-have: Prior DRAM memory or analog-blocks experience; experience using AI-assisted tools to improve design and characterization productivity.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Electronics Engineering or a related engineering field required; 7+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
