Staff Engineer, SSD NIT

Role Summary

Lead technical triage and root-cause analysis of NAND–firmware interaction (NFI) issues for enterprise SSD products. Work at the intersection of NAND design, firmware, hardware, and system teams to identify and mitigate product and field risks.

Based in Singapore (MSB site); role focuses on debugging, failure analysis, and cross-functional technical leadership for SSD development and quality.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requests 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware/software development or NAND technologies.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include triage, debug, and cross-disciplinary failure analysis to reduce technical and field risks.

  • Provide technical direction and lead NAND-related debug in SSD systems through triage, debug, and root-cause analysis of NFI issues.
  • Interface between NAND design and product teams to support enterprise SSD development and quality assurance.
  • Represent SSD product development and product quality teams to identify, detect, and mitigate risks during development and in the field.
  • Conduct detailed debugging and failure analysis across firmware, hardware, and system interactions using lab equipment and software instrumentation.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve debugging efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while following organizational and legal standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within the scope of work.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Hands-on experience with NAND flash, non-volatile memory technologies, or memory controllers.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware/software development or NAND technologies.
  • Experience in firmware verification and validation, debugging, and failure analysis in laboratory and system settings.
  • Experience with storage technologies and memory systems and collaborating with hardware teams.
  • Proven experience leading high-visibility, cross-functional taskforces and delivering cross-team results.

Nice-to-have:

  • Deep knowledge of storage interfaces (PCIe/NVMe) and system-level storage architectures.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and low-level embedded debugging techniques.
  • High-speed signal analysis and hardware debug experience.
  • Strong scripting/tool development skills (e.g., Python) and experience building debug/validation automation.
  • Experience influencing technical direction, leading ambiguous problem solving, and mentoring engineers.
  • Experience using AI-assisted developer tools to accelerate debugging and analysis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
