Role Summary

Join Micron’s SSD Hardware Architecture organization to lead PCIe subsystem validation and bring advanced SSD controller technologies from architecture to silicon. The role collaborates with architecture, verification, firmware, product engineering, and external IP vendors to enable high-performance, reliable SSD controllers.

Responsibilities

Primary technical and leadership responsibilities include:

  • Develop hardware and system specifications from architecture and product requirements.
  • Lead PCIe bring-up, characterization, debugging, validation, and compliance for SSD controller SoCs.
  • Drive system-level validation methodologies, automation, and test development to improve coverage and efficiency.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and validate PCIe functionality across complex SSD use cases.
  • Partner with architecture, verification, firmware, product teams, and external IP vendors to resolve issues and improve functionality.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

  • Proven experience in hardware development, silicon validation, PCIe subsystem engineering, or related areas.
  • Strong expertise with PCIe Gen4, Gen5, and/or Gen6; host systems; root complexes; IP bring-up; validation; compliance; and interoperability testing.
  • Extensive knowledge of PCIe LTSSM and post-silicon validation and debug methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Python, TCL, C, or similar scripting/programming languages.
  • Experience using high-speed test and measurement equipment.
  • Preferred: experience implementing or validating PCIe subsystems in ASIC and/or FPGA environments and familiarity with SSD controller architectures and SoC integration.
  • Preferred: understanding of link equalization, DFE, receiver architectures, signal integrity, power integrity, SerDes, and high-speed PCB design/debug.
  • Expected: ability to apply AI/ML tooling (LLMs, agentic patterns, RAG, tool chaining) to improve validation automation and developer productivity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is listed as preferred.
