Job Title
Staff Engineer, Scribe Layout Design
Role Summary
As a Staff Engineer in the R&D Scribe Design group, you will design and validate scribe test structures, manage scribe databases, and develop layout automation to support advanced technology development and manufacturing integration.
You will collaborate with Process Integration, Advanced Mask Development/OPC, Product and Design, Mask Shop, Electrical Characterization, and CAD teams to create and verify standardized and novel memory cell and pitch test structures.
Experience Level
Senior β 6+ years of engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on scribe/test-structure layout, automation, verification, and cross-functional support for process development.
- Design and lay out scribe/test structures for memory cell and pitch characterization.
- Develop and maintain EDA automation flows for DUT generation, layout creation, verification, and documentation.
- Create PCELL-based device layouts to enable parameter-driven designs.
- Automate DUT placement and electrical-constraint-driven routing.
- Use and extend EDA tools to perform layout and verification (Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre, Innovus, etc.).
- Manage scribe databases and verify test-structure documentation and parametric data.
- Collaborate with process integration, mask/OPC, device, reliability, and electrical characterization teams during R&D and manufacturing integration.
- Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement through data-driven optimization and metrics.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; concise list.
- Hands-on experience with layout and EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre, Innovus, Virtuoso EXL/GXL).
- Proven experience in design automation and developing scalable automation flows.
- Proficiency in scripting for EDA automation (SKILL, Python, Perl, Tcl) on Linux.
- Experience implementing PCELLs and automating DUT generation, placement, and routing.
- Familiarity with layout verification flows (DRC/LVS) and documentation of parametric results.
- Ability to analyze data, optimize flows, and produce technical documentation; patents/publications are a plus.
Education Requirements
BS degree in science or engineering is required, or equivalent practical experience. The posting specifies 6+ years in an engineering position.
