Staff Engineer, RTL Design AI Hardware
Role Summary
Join the team building the silicon behind Tenstorrent’s custom AI platform. Implement and optimize micro-architectures for next-generation AI hardware to improve performance, power efficiency, and overall system deliverables.
This is a hybrid role based out of Belgrade, Serbia, collaborating closely with verification, performance, and physical design teams.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting title is Staff Engineer; however, candidates at various experience levels will be considered and assessed during interview, and offers will align to the assessed level.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement micro-architectural features in RTL for AI hardware IP.
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and propose changes that balance power, area, and frequency.
- Collaborate with RTL, DV, performance, and physical design teams to evaluate design trade-offs.
- Debug RTL issues in simulation and in post-silicon environments.
- Interpret synthesis and timing results and contribute to improving internal tools and flows.

- Must-have: Strong foundation in digital design and micro-architecture; practical experience with RTL development, debugging, and performance analysis, including clock/reset, power, boot, and debug logic.
- Must-have: Proficiency writing and reading Verilog or SystemVerilog and interpreting synthesis and timing reports.
- Must-have: Experience debugging RTL in simulation and post-silicon and collaborating across hardware teams (RTL, DV, performance, physical).
- Nice-to-have: Experience targeting high-performance compute or AI/ML workloads and familiarity with compute architecture trade-offs.
- Employment condition: Offer contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology; may require U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or an export license.
