Staff Engineer, Product Applications (Advanced Consumer Power)
Role Summary
Lead the development of power-management solutions for consumer devices (smartphones, wireless headsets, gaming consoles) as a member of ADIβs Advanced Consumer Power team. The role drives product definition and execution from initial system concept through evaluation, optimization, and high-volume production.
Work cross-functionally with IC design, product management, business teams and customers to deliver high-performance DC/DC, PMIC and charging solutions, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior β 6β10 years professional experience in analog/power electronics.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system design, validation, documentation, customer support, and technical leadership.
- Execute schematic and layout design for complex evaluation boards for power products.
- Collaborate with product definers, IC design, and business management to oversee product evaluation and optimization.
- Lead bench characterization, performance optimization, and development of automated test environments.
- Author application notes, user guides, datasheets and technical manuscripts for global use.
- Provide expert technical support, workshops, and training to customers and field applications teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support Business Unit and Field teams in identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Travel as required (approximately 10% of the time).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

Must-have:
- 6β10 years professional experience in analog/power electronics, focused on DC/DC power conversion, switching regulators, and battery chargers.
- In-depth understanding of power architectures for smartphones, AR/VR devices, gaming and wearable technology.
- Proven hardware/firmware co-design experience and proficiency in Python or C for automation and test development.
- Experience with bench characterization, performance optimization, and automated test environment development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
- Willingness to travel (~10%).

- Experience with PMICs and discrete charging solutions.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing and field application/customer engagement.
- Layout experience for high-performance power boards and familiarity with mass-production constraints.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
