Job Title
Staff Engineer - Process Development, Wet, NAND
Role Summary
The Staff Engineer owns and delivers wet-process module execution for advanced NAND technologies. This role translates device and integration requirements into robust process windows and control strategies, drives experiments, and leads cross-functional actions to close yield, reliability, and cost gaps.
The position leads module-level technical work, coordinates with global teams and suppliers, and supports adoption of manufacturable, high-margin process solutions.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience guidance: PhD with ≥3 years, Master's with ≥5 years, or Bachelor's with ≥7 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on process development, integration, supplier engagement, and governance for wet processes in advanced NAND.
- Own process characterization and recipe/process optimization to meet yield and quality targets for advanced NAND.
- Design and lead experiments (DOE) to widen process windows and validate next-node solutions.
- Quantify benefits of new chemistries, process sequences, or equipment changes and drive early adoption to improve margin and manufacturability.
- Lead cross-functional troubleshooting and integration activities; translate device needs into process requirements and drive closure of issues.
- Coordinate with global technology-development peers on node choices and transfer/readiness across sites.
- Drive research and hardware evaluations, represent wet process in supplier discussions, and contribute to IP and technical publications where applicable.
- Identify and implement process simplification, monitoring, and advanced control methodologies; ensure clear technical documentation and compliance with IP policy.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency and quality, following organizational standards and legal requirements.
Requirements
Key technical and interpersonal requirements for successful performance in this role.
- Strong foundation in chemistry, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transport.
- Experience with DOE/SPC and data analysis systems (example: Y3) to analyze experimental outcomes.
- Working knowledge of memory process flow, including planar and vertical NAND contexts.
- Proven ability to lead complex experiments and drive cross-functional teams, sites, and suppliers to resolution.
- Experience in supplier engagement, hardware evaluations, and translating evaluations into manufacturing-ready solutions.
- Soft skills: concise cross-functional communication, prioritization in dynamic environments, and collaboration.
Education Requirements
PhD with ≥3 years, or Master’s with ≥5 years, or Bachelor’s with ≥7 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
