Job Title

Staff Engineer - Post Silicon Validation

Role Summary

As a Staff Engineer on the SerDes IP post-silicon validation team you will validate and characterize multi-gigabit serial interface IP (PCIe Gen5/Gen6, Ethernet) in silicon, lead lab bring-up and root-cause debug, and deliver automation and reports that guide design fixes and product releases.

Work closely with analog and digital designers, applications engineers, and customers to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Experience Level

Senior (Staff). The posting specifies 3+ years of post-silicon validation experience, with a focus on analog validation of high-speed serial interfaces.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include lab validation, compliance testing, automation, and cross-functional debugging.

  • Validate post-silicon SerDes IP (PCIe Gen5/Gen6, Ethernet) across process nodes and customer configurations.
  • Perform PCIe and Ethernet compliance testing, capture and analyze signal integrity measurements, and drive failures to root cause.
  • Develop and maintain test automation using Python, MATLAB, and C/C++ to control lab equipment and process measurement data.
  • Operate BERTs, VNAs, high-speed oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers to characterize analog performance.
  • Collaborate with analog/digital designers and applications engineers to reproduce customer issues and validate design fixes in silicon.
  • Document test results, produce characterization reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Support FPGA-based prototyping and early bring-up activities for new IP variants.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience.

  • 3+ years post-silicon validation experience focused on analog validation of high-speed serial interfaces.
  • Proven experience with PCIe compliance testing and signal integrity measurements on live silicon.
  • Working knowledge of high-speed protocols (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, JESD204) including hands-on bring-up and debug.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment: BERTs, VNAs, high-speed oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers, and a clear understanding of what each tool measures.
  • Strong programming skills for test automation and data analysis in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++.
  • Practical debugging ability: design experiments, triage intermittent failures, and communicate root cause across teams.
  • Nice-to-have: FPGA prototyping experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, VLSI, or equivalent hands-on experience; equivalent practical experience accepted.
