Job Title

Staff Engineer, GaN New Product Development

Role Summary

Develop new high-voltage GaN products from design through qualification. Lead product engineering activities including on-wafer and in-package test analysis, qualification campaigns, and cross-site coordination with headquarters and fabrication/assembly partners.

Work includes product design to meet cost, performance and reliability targets, driving root-cause investigations, and ensuring timely project execution.

Experience Level

Senior β€” position expects an experienced engineer. Specific experience guidance: Master's degree plus ~6 years' relevant experience, or PhD plus ~3 years' relevant experience (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for delivering qualified GaN products:

  • Design high-voltage GaN devices to meet cost, performance and reliability targets.
  • Manage engineering lots through wafer fabrication, assembly/packaging, probe and testing.
  • Analyze on-wafer and in-package test data to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Plan and coordinate product qualification campaigns and generate qualification/test protocols.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions for performance or quality issues.
  • Maintain project schedules (Gantt charts), track milestones, risks, and deliverables.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and behaviors:

  • Expertise in high-voltage GaN device design and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with layout tools (e.g., Cadence, L-Edit).
  • Knowledge of GaN manufacturing flow: wafer fab, probe, packaging and testing.
  • Proficient data analysis skills; experience with JMP and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and time-management skills; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable; capable of coordinating across global teams and suppliers.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with reliability physics, failure analysis, JEDEC and AEC-Q101 qualification standards.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field with approximately 6+ years of relevant experience, or PhD in a related field with approximately 3+ years of relevant experience.
