Job Title

Staff Engineer, FW & Product Test

Role Summary

Member of the Firmware & Product Test (FPT) team responsible for validating enterprise SSD firmware. Develop and run verification plans and Python-based automation across simulation, FPGA prototyping, and prototype hardware to ensure NVMe front-end features and customer requirements are met.

Collaborate with firmware engineers, senior mentors, and data scientists to improve test coverage, automation, and data-driven validation workflows.

Experience Level

Senior — typical experience: Master’s + ~7 years or Bachelor’s + ~9 years; expected to lead technical test development and perform independent failure analysis.

Responsibilities

Deliver firmware verification, automation, and analysis for NVMe and customer features.

  • Develop and implement firmware verification plans for NVMe/front-end and customer features (SMART, Trim, Get Log Page, OCP)
  • Design, implement, and maintain Python-based test automation, reporting, and data collection tools
  • Execute regressions across simulation, FPGA prototypes, and prototype hardware; analyze failures and produce root-cause findings and mitigation plans
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools, LLMs, and agent-based solutions to improve test development, failure analysis, and workflow automation
  • Work with cross-functional teams to increase validation efficiency and test scalability

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical experience required; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Proficiency in Python and libraries such as NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn
  • Experience with test automation, validation frameworks, regression testing, and code review practices
  • Working knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, model evaluation, and data-driven problem solving
  • Experience using AI-enabled development tools, LLMs, prompt engineering techniques, or AI-driven workflows in software development or automation
  • Strong analytical skills for failure analysis and root-cause identification

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Background in embedded systems, firmware validation, hardware testing, or enterprise storage technologies
  • Familiarity with Git, Agile development practices, and modern software engineering workflows
  • Experience integrating Generative AI, agent frameworks, or commercial copilots

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree plus approximately 9 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree plus approximately 7 years, in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
