Job Title

Staff Engineer, Fusion Compiler (GPU Acceleration)

Role Summary

Senior software engineer responsible for enabling GPU acceleration across the Fusion Compiler R2G (RTL-to-GDSII) flow. The role sits on the Fusion Compiler GPU Acceleration team and focuses on designing, implementing, and delivering GPU-accelerated engines for placement, routing, timing, extraction, and related digital implementation stages.

The position requires owning projects end-to-end, collaborating with product and engineering teams, engaging with customers, and mentoring other engineers to raise the team’s technical capability.

Experience Level

Mid-level (experience guidance: approximately 3–6 years of relevant software development experience; leadership and mentoring expected).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical design, implementation, and delivery of GPU-accelerated EDA engines and leading cross-functional efforts.

  • Design and implement GPU-accelerated versions of R2G flow engines (placement, global/detail routing, CTS, optimization, timing, extraction, legalizer, synthesis).
  • Formulate problems and algorithms to exploit GPU architecture and performance characteristics.
  • Own projects end-to-end: requirements, design specification, development, testing, and customer interactions.
  • Collaborate with product management and product engineering to shape features and roadmaps.
  • Mentor and raise technical capability across the team; share best practices and drive engineering excellence.
  • Engage with customers to validate solutions and incorporate feedback into products.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform effectively in this role. Nice-to-have items are listed where indicated.

  • Must-have: 3–6 years of hands-on software development experience, preferably in EDA or semiconductor domains.
  • Must-have: Expert proficiency in C/C++ with a track record of building robust, scalable systems.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with physical design flows, especially placement and routing.
  • Must-have: Strong software architecture skills, familiarity with design patterns and Design Thinking approaches.
  • Must-have: Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical and customer interactions.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with CUDA, GPU acceleration techniques, and GPU architecture knowledge.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, and contributing to product roadmaps.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
