Job Title
Staff Engineer, Digital Design Engineering
Role Summary
Senior digital design engineer in ADI's Aerospace and Defense Sensors, Subsystems & Space business unit. Responsible for FPGA/ASIC RTL and schematic-based designs for electronic warfare, communications, and phased-array radar subsystems.
Work covers research through production, collaborating with design, test, manufacturing, program management, and customers; lead technical teams and mentor engineers to deliver complex digital modules and subsystems.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Preferred: 8+ years of relevant digital design engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include system architecture, FPGA/ASIC implementation, and cross-functional leadership.
- Define and develop system-level architectures for complex digital designs.
- Develop FPGA-based designs: schematic, RTL (Verilog, VHDL), simulation, timing closure, and interface validation.
- Design and validate high-speed interfaces and perform bring-up and testing (examples: 100 GigE, Aurora, PCIe).
- Perform board-level design: part selection, schematic capture, debug, and optimization.
- Lead technical teams, influence product direction, and mentor engineering staff.
- Collaborate with program management, manufacturing, testing, and customers to meet requirements across program phases.
- Execute performance verification of hardware and software through development and production.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, security, and work authorization.
- Expertise in RTL design and verification (Verilog, VHDL), simulation, and timing closure for large FPGAs.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Allegro or PADS.
- High-speed digital design knowledge and signal integrity best practices.
- Experience with high-speed data paths and control logic for high-speed converters and RF-related systems.
- Board-level debugging and optimization experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with C#, Python, C/C++, TCL.
- Experience with DOD radar, electronic warfare, or RF communications algorithms.
- Experience with low-complexity DC power tree design and voltage sequencing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
