Staff Engineer, Digital Design Engineering

Role Summary

The Staff Engineer owns specification, micro-architecture and RTL implementation of IP modules, provides technical and managerial leadership to the digital design team, and influences chip architecture. The role collaborates closely with verification and physical design teams and supports post-silicon bring-up and debug.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 10+ years of digital logic design experience; hands-on RTL development and technical leadership expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop specifications, micro-architecture, and RTL for modules and IP blocks.
  • Influence chip-level architecture and design decisions.
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership to digital design engineers.
  • Mentor junior engineers on timing constraints, lint checks, synthesis, and static timing analysis.
  • Coordinate with verification and physical design teams for coverage and timing closure.
  • Perform lint checks, clock-domain crossing analysis, and sanity synthesis runs.
  • Support post-silicon bring-up and debug activities.
  • Participate in hiring and team development.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on digital logic design experience or technical leadership on ASIC/SoC projects.
  • Strong RTL coding and debugging skills.
  • Experience with lint, CDC analysis, formal equivalence, ECO flows, and scripting.
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams; effective communication across geographically distributed teams.
  • Willingness to travel (~10% of the time).

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of audio and/or DSP fundamentals.

Education Requirements

Minimum BTech/BE degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
