Staff Engineer, Digital Design Engineering
Role Summary
Own the specification, micro-architecture and RTL design of digital IP/modules and provide technical and managerial leadership within the digital design team for mixed-signal/analog products.
Collaborate with verification and physical design teams, support post-silicon debug, and help ensure timely delivery of silicon-ready RTL with required quality and timing closure.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of professional digital logic design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define specifications, micro-architecture and implement RTL for assigned modules.
- Influence and contribute to chip-level architecture decisions.
- Provide technical and managerial leadership to digital design engineers.
- Guide junior engineers on timing constraints, lint checks, synthesis, and static timing analysis.
- Coordinate with verification and physical design teams for coverage and timing closure.
- Perform lint checks, clock domain crossing analysis and sanity synthesis runs.
- Support post-silicon bring-up and debug activities.
- Participate in hiring, mentoring and team development.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes:
- 10+ years of solid digital logic design experience in hands-on and/or technical leadership roles.
- Strong hands-on RTL coding and debugging experience.
- Experience with lint tools, CDC analysis, formal equivalence checks, ECO flows, synthesis and static timing analysis.
- Scripting experience to support automation of design and verification flows.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams and communicate technical tradeoffs.
- Proven experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical workstreams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of audio and/or DSP fundamentals.
Education Requirements
Minimum BTech/BE in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent technical degree).
