Job Title

Staff Engineer – DFT Engineering

Role Summary

Lead DFT implementation and verification for complex ASIC/VLSI designs. Work with design, verification, physical design and test teams to define and execute test strategies that ensure manufacturable test coverage.

Drive DFT tool flows, automation and mentorship to deliver production-quality ATPG, MBIST and on-chip test solutions.

Experience Level

Senior - 7–10 years of hands-on experience in DFT methodologies and ASIC design flows.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, validating and optimizing DFT features, producing test patterns, and supporting failure analysis and production testing.

  • Design and implement scan chains, compression, LBIST, MBIST and other on-chip test structures.
  • Generate manufacturing ATPG patterns for stuck-at and transition fault models using on-chip compression.
  • Perform DFT DRC checks in RTL and netlist databases and validate DFT structures with and without SDF timing.
  • Use Siemens and Cadence DFT tools for analysis, ATPG, MBIST design/verification and scan stitching.
  • Define DFT verification plans and collaborate with the verification team on pattern validation and coverage closure.
  • Work with physical design to develop DFT implementation and STA/constraint strategies.
  • Analyze and debug test failures in collaboration with test engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior DFT engineers.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 7–10 years of practical DFT experience (see Experience Level).
  • Deep knowledge of LBIST, ATPG, DFT DRC, scan compression, low-power DFT techniques, MBIST, boundary scan, Analog/Phy DFT and JTAG architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Cadence and Siemens DFT EDA tools for scan stitching, DRC, ATPG, coverage improvement and MBIST.
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation: Perl, Tcl and/or Python.
  • Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals, RTL coding, lint/CDC checks, low-power verification and ASIC design flow.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
