Staff Engineer, Design Verification Engineering
Role Summary
Lead technical activities for design verification and digital micro-architecture within SoC projects. Work hands-on and as a technical leader to architect and validate digital blocks delivered to silicon (ASIC tapeouts).
Collaborate with cross-functional product teams across locations to ensure designs meet power, performance, and area targets and are verified through signoff flows.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 8+ years of digital logic design experience with hands-on design or technical leadership in ASIC/SoC projects.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, architecture, verification support, and cross-team coordination for digital SoC blocks.
- Architect and design key digital blocks and micro-architectures, optimizing power, performance, and area (PPA).
- Lead and coordinate verification and delivery activities across cross-functional product development teams.
- Ensure designs are realized in silicon (ASIC tapeouts) and support tapeout readiness.
- Drive usage of verification flows and tools (linting, CDC, formal equivalence, ECO flows) and develop automation scripts.
- Mentor and technically guide junior engineers; lead technical discussions across geographically distributed teams.
- Participate in post-silicon issue debug and resolution when required.
- Travel as required (approximately 10%).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 8+ years of solid digital logic design experience in hands-on and/or technical leadership roles.
- Proven experience with ASIC tapeouts (silicon realization); FPGA-only experience is not sufficient.
- Hands-on experience developing micro-architecture with PPA tradeoff analysis.
- Experience with lint, CDC analysis, formal equivalence, ECO flows, and scripting for verification/automation.
- Strong knowledge of processor and SoC architecture.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-location coordination.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and driving technical decisions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in post-silicon debug and failure analysis.
- Knowledge of DSP fundamentals.
Education Requirements
Minimum BTech/BE degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science (or equivalent technical degree).
