Role Summary

Responsible for block- and sub-system-level circuit design, timing optimization, and supervising layout for NAND/flash memory products. Collaborates with logic teams, technology development, and project teams to define full-chip floorplans, place core circuits, finalize array waveforms, and optimize circuits from base cells to full-chip level.

The role includes mentoring junior designers and producing block- and sub-system-level Micro-Architecture Specifications (MAS) in accordance with industry standards such as ISO26262.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience guidance: MS/PhD with ~2–6 years or BS with ~6–10 years in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, optimization, collaboration, and documentation across multiple levels of memory product development.

• Perform block- and sub-system-level design and timing optimization; supervise layout activities.
• Partner with Logic teams to explain and support array functionality.
• Collaborate with project teams to define full-chip floorplan and placement of core circuits.
• Work with technology development teams to finalize array waveforms.
• Optimize circuits from base cells to full-chip using simulation tools.
• Mentor and grow junior design engineers.
• Document block- and sub-system-level Micro-Architecture Specifications (MAS) to meet industry standards such as ISO26262.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools familiarity, and professional behaviors.

• Deep knowledge of digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design.
• Strong understanding of CMOS device physics.
• Deep knowledge of flash/NAND array operation and reliability mechanisms.
• Experience with analog and digital simulation tools such as HSPICE, Fast SPICE, and ncVerilog.
• Understanding of computer architecture, storage devices, and NAND memory.
• Strong verbal communication skills in English and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to operate in a fast-moving environment.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD with approximately 2–6 years of semiconductor industry experience, or BS with approximately 6–10 years of semiconductor industry experience. Equivalent practical experience is implied by the published experience ranges.
