Staff Engineer Design
Role Summary
Design and optimize critical Flash memory circuits (row/column drivers, sense amplifiers, and associated core circuitry) focused on performance, power, area, timing, and reliability. The role sits in the Non-Volatile Memory Core Functional Group and collaborates with logic/RTL, technology, and project teams to deliver AMS architectures and full-chip integration.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff level). Typical experience guidance from the posting: MS/PhD with ~2–6 years of relevant semiconductor experience, or BS with ~6–10 years.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Own block and subsystem-level circuit design, optimization, verification, and oversee layout.
- Optimize designs across base-cell to full-chip levels using circuit simulation and modeling tools.
- Collaborate with Logic/RTL teams to define array functionality and develop Analog/Mixed-Signal architectures combining custom circuits and digital techniques.
- Work with Technology and project teams on array waveforms, circuit integration, and full-chip floorplanning.
- Apply scripting, automation, and AI/agentic AI technologies to accelerate design, simulation, and validation.
- Develop and maintain Micro-Architecture Specifications and required design documentation, including ISO 26262 compliance where applicable.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design, CMOS device physics, Flash/NAND architecture, and reliability.
- Experience with custom circuit design and simulation tools such as HSPICE, FastSPICE, and NC-Verilog.
- Understanding of computer architecture, storage devices, and NAND memory systems.
- Experience with Linux/UNIX environments and scripting/automation.
- Ability to develop solutions spanning custom circuit and RTL/AMS design.
- Exposure to AI-enabled and agentic AI technologies applied to engineering and design workflows.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills; ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD with approximately 2–6 years of relevant semiconductor experience, or BS with approximately 6–10 years of relevant semiconductor experience. Degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent practical experience is expected.
