Staff Engineer - CPU Verification
Role Summary
Lead CPU verification efforts for SiFive products, focusing on CPU sub-systems such as load/store units, MMUs, and execution pipelines. The role owns verification strategy, testbench infrastructure, test content development, and RTL/SOC debug for complex CPU IP.
Experience Level
Senior-level — requires 7+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience with a focus on CPU or complex IP verification.
Responsibilities
Deliver verification plans, environments, and test suites; drive debug and validation to meet coverage and quality goals.
- Define and execute verification strategy for CPU sub-systems and related IP.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches and verification infrastructure.
- Create constrained-random stimulus, directed tests, and assembly-level tests to achieve coverage targets.
- Lead RTL and SoC-level debugging, root-cause analysis, and bug resolution.
- Provide technical mentorship and guide best practices for junior verification engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role.
- 7+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience, with emphasis on CPU or complex IP blocks.
- Proficient in SystemVerilog and UVM; experienced in building advanced verification environments.
- Strong knowledge of computer architecture: pipelines, caches, out-of-order execution, and memory consistency models.
- Proven experience developing constrained-random tests, directed tests, and assembly-level validation.
- Experience leading complex debug efforts at unit and SoC levels.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RISC-V, ARM, or x86 ISAs and CPU verification for those ISAs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
