Staff Engineer, CPU Core Verification
TenstorrentJob Title
Staff Engineer, CPU Core Verification
Role Summary
Lead and own functional verification for out-of-order RISC-V CPU cores and related microarchitectural features. Work across pre-silicon simulation, emulation, and post-silicon debug to ensure robust CPU core delivery.
Team: verification within Tenstorrent's CPU/microarchitecture organization; role is hybrid based in Bengaluru, India.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical expectation: 8+ years of experience in CPU verification or closely related digital design; level will be confirmed during interview and offers may align to assessed level.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities for CPU cores and associated un-core components.
- Plan and drive functional verification for CPU core features and complex microarchitectural scenarios.
- Develop UVM-based testbenches and stimulus, and create assembly/C/C++ tests and functional models for ISA and RISC-V extensions.
- Debug simulation and emulation regressions using RTL knowledge, waveforms, and logs to identify root causes and fixes.
- Build and improve coverage models, coverage closure plans, and verification infrastructure.
- Collaborate with design, validation, emulation, and post-silicon teams to support bring-up and delivery of CPU cores and clusters.
- Scale shared stimulus, debug, and coverage approaches across multiple CPU programs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed after.
- Must-have: 8+ years in CPU verification or closely related digital design with deep knowledge of high-performance out-of-order CPU microarchitecture.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with RTL, waveform and log-based debug, and complex root-cause analysis across simulation and emulation.
- Must-have: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with design, DV, emulation, and post-silicon teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with UVM, assembly-level and C/C++ test development, functional modeling, and coverage-driven verification.
- Nice-to-have: Practical experience spanning pre-silicon, emulation, and post-silicon verification flows.
