Role Summary
Experienced EDA/CAD engineer focused on building AI- and automation-assisted workflows for custom memory IC design. The role partners with design, layout, verification, and CAD teams to deliver software and integrations that improve productivity, quality, and cycle time across layout, verification, simulation, and tape-out activities.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting requests 5+ years of relevant experience for Senior consideration; substantially more experience and broader technical leadership is expected for Principal-level consideration.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include delivering CAD tools, automation, and AI-enabled workflows that accelerate custom IC design.
- Design, develop, and deploy software, automation, and AI-assisted solutions across layout, verification, simulation, and tape-out.
- Develop and enhance AI-assisted tools, agents, and automation to increase engineering productivity and team efficiency.
- Collaborate with global design, layout, verification, and CAD teams to identify high-impact automation and AI use cases.
- Build and maintain CAD tools, workflow integrations, and supporting technical content for design teams.
- Support evaluation, qualification, deployment, and integration of EDA tools and AI-enhanced workflows.
- Apply generative AI and machine learning techniques to practical custom IC design and enablement problems.
- Contribute to scalable software development practices, including code quality, testing, maintainability, and documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, followed by desirable skills.
Must-have:
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience (Senior-level consideration).
- Hands-on experience applying AI/ML, LLMs, or advanced automation techniques to engineering problems.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience developing maintainable automation or technical software.
- Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, AI-assisted workflows, or agent-based automation concepts.
- Knowledge of CMOS design, custom layout, circuit verification, and semiconductor design fundamentals.
- Experience contributing to software quality, testing, and maintenance practices.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with custom memory design (DDR, LPDDR, HBM, NAND) and physical verification flows (Calibre DRC, LVS, LPE).
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, SKILL programming, and parameterized cells or custom design environments.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools such as HSPICE or Spectre and digital verification concepts.
- Experience building developer tools, CLI utilities, workflow integrations, or plugin-based tooling.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and integrating LLM APIs into engineering tools.
- Experience working in Linux-based development environments and modern software engineering practices.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
