Job Title
Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Member of Arm's Solutions Engineering team responsible for ASIC implementation and physical design of CPU cores, system interconnects and related IP. Lead development and deployment of implementation methodologies, analyses and flows to improve power, performance, area and integration for Arm products and partners.
The role collaborates with RTL design, physical IP and EDA/tool teams and supports external partners to convert R&D concepts into production-ready implementations.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 7+ years of relevant ASIC implementation and physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for delivery, analysis and methodology development.
- Synthesis, floorplanning, place-and-route, CTS and physical implementation of CPU cores, interconnects and other IP.
- Analyze timing, area and power; drive optimizations to improve PPAT (power, performance, area, thermal).
- Develop and deploy new implementation methodologies and improve design flows and automation.
- Perform PDN, DFM and physical verification analysis and support timing closure activities.
- Collaborate with RTL design, physical IP and EDA/tool teams to convert concepts into implementation solutions.
- Support and enable internal and external partners to achieve high-quality silicon results.
Requirements
Core required skills and additional desirable experience.
Must-have:
- 7+ years of ASIC implementation experience covering synthesis, physical design, STA, timing closure, structured clock trees, PDN, DFM and physical verification.
- Practical experience with top/block level synthesis, floorplanning, place-and-route, CTS, logical and physical optimization and power analysis flows.
- Proven scripting/programming skills (Tcl, Perl, Python, Make).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills; experience working with international teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Arm-based SoCs.
- Experience with additional languages and tooling (C/C++, R, Java, JavaScript, HTML, Ruby) and data presentation.
- Low-power design techniques such as power gating and voltage/frequency scaling.
- Verilog RTL design and ATPG/production testing experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant technical field.
