Job Title
Staff Engineer - ASIC Verification
Role Summary
Lead verification engineer responsible for defining and executing ASIC/FPGA verification strategy, developing verification environments and tests, and debugging RTL and silicon issues for optical networking products within the Optical Networks division.
Work with design, firmware, system and lab teams to close verification coverage, support bring-up and deliver validated ASICs for production hardware.
Experience Level
Senior / Staff-level. Typically a senior engineer with significant hands-on ASIC/FPGA verification and debugging experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define verification strategy and test plans for ASIC/FPGA projects.
- Design, implement and maintain verification environments and testbenches (e.g., SystemVerilog/UVM).
- Develop and run regressions, functional coverage collection and metrics-driven verification closure.
- Debug RTL, simulation failures and silicon/FPGA bring-up issues; triage with design and lab teams.
- Automate verification flows and test execution; write scripts and utilities to improve productivity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (hardware design, firmware, system test, manufacturing) to achieve project milestones and releases.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process and methodology improvements.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
-
Must-have: Proven ASIC/FPGA verification experience with strong test strategy, development and debugging skills.
-
Must-have: Experience with verification methodologies and tools (e.g., SystemVerilog, UVM, simulators, coverage-driven verification).
-
Must-have: Strong debug skills across simulation, FPGA prototyping and silicon bring-up; experience using waveform and debug tools.
-
Must-have: Scripting experience for automation (e.g., Python, Tcl) and experience managing regressions and CI for verification.
-
Nice-to-have: Domain knowledge in optical networking or data-center networking hardware and experience with test lab/board bring-up.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience mentoring teams and improving verification processes at project scale.
