Staff Engineer, Analog Design
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Staff Engineer, Analog Design
Role Summary
Design, implement, verify, and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits used in NAND Flash across the full chip design lifecycle. Work on circuit blocks such as charge pumps, amplifiers, regulators, data converters, bandgaps, sensor interfaces, and power-management elements.
Collaborate with product, test, process, and systems teams; coordinate small-team technical activities when required; and develop automation and AI-assisted flows to accelerate analog engineering tasks.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff-level). Title indicates an experienced engineer; typically this role is filled by candidates with extensive analog/mixed-signal IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver architecture, detailed design, verification, and validation for analog/mixed-signal blocks and drive integration into NAND products.
- Define circuit specifications from system requirements and produce schematics, verification plans, and design documentation.
- Perform transistor-level design and optimization for performance, power, area, noise, and reliability.
- Execute DC, AC, transient, noise, Monte Carlo, and corner simulations and analyze results across PVT variations.
- Validate block- and chip-level performance including parasitic evaluation and integration quality.
- Design circuits such as charge pumps, amplifiers, voltage regulators, ADC/DAC, bandgap references, sensor interfaces, and power-management blocks.
- Investigate silicon issues, lead root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate technical activities for small teams: design reviews, execution tracking, and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and prototype AI-assisted engineering flows and agent-based tools to automate simulation orchestration, layout tasks, result summarization, and specification-to-check extraction.
- Create reusable, validated workflows that connect engineering data, scripts, simulation outputs, and design checks with appropriate human review.
- Partner with circuit designers, verification engineers, software/AI specialists, and manufacturing partners to deploy maintainable engineering solutions.
Requirements
Core technical skills and hands-on experience required; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Proven analog and mixed-signal IC design experience at transistor level on production silicon.
- Must-have: Experience designing or validating circuits such as charge pumps, amplifiers, regulators, ADC/DACs, bandgaps, and power-management blocks.
- Must-have: Proficiency with SPICE-level simulation and corner/Monto Carlo analyses and experience addressing parasitic and integration issues.
- Must-have: Experience debugging silicon, performing root-cause analysis, and driving corrective actions through to closure.
- Must-have: Scripting and automation experience for EDA flows (examples: Python, Tcl, or equivalent) and familiarity with building reproducible engineering workflows.
- Must-have: Strong collaboration skills across product, test, process, layout, and verification teams; ability to lead small technical teams when needed.
- Nice-to-have: Prior experience implementing AI/agent-assisted tools for design automation, simulation orchestration, or result summarization.
- Nice-to-have: Specific experience with NAND-related design constraints, power/area optimization, and reliability trade-offs.
