Staff Engineer
ArmJob Title
Staff Engineer
Role Summary
The Staff Engineer will develop and deploy electrical sign-off and implementation methodologies for advanced SoC designs, focusing on power delivery network (PDN), EM/IR and sign-off analyses. The role sits within Arm's Solutions Engineering group and works across implementation flows, EDA tool interactions, and partner enablement.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7+ years of experience in ASIC implementation, sign-off and physical design on advanced process nodes.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing and operationalizing sign-off methodologies and implementation analysis to improve silicon yield and implementation efficiency.
- Develop PDN sign-off flows and methodologies for advanced nodes and 2.5D/3D technologies.
- Perform and improve static and dynamic PDN analysis, electro-migration (EM) and ESD sign-off methodologies.
- Create and deploy methodologies to improve implementation efficiency and quality of results.
- Develop detailed implementation analysis and data-mining methodologies to support sign-off decisions.
- Translate R&D concepts into production-ready implementation solutions.
- Collaborate with partners and internal teams to enable best possible quality of results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate impact.
- 7+ years' proven experience in ASIC implementation, EM/IR, PDN design, physical design and STA on advanced process nodes.
- Experience across the IC design flow from RTL through to GDSII and with top- and block-level implementation and sign-off flows.
- Proven programming and scripting skills (examples: Tcl, Perl, Python, Make).
- Track record of developing and promoting new silicon implementation techniques and methodologies across distributed teams.
- Strong initiative, problem-solving skills and the ability to work across R&D and implementation teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Arm-based SoC architectures.
- Experience with additional scripting/programming and data presentation tools (e.g. sh, csh, R, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, HTML, Ruby).
- Experience with low-power design techniques (power gating, voltage/frequency scaling).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
