Job Title

Staff Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer - Storage Systems

Role Summary

Lead electrical failure analysis for returned SSD products in an onsite lab environment. Work within the QRA RMA team to identify root causes at the electrical and physical levels, manage RMA cases, produce technical reports, and coordinate with engineering and customer-facing teams to resolve product issues.

Experience Level

Senior. Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in product engineering, system engineering, validation, or quality assurance as indicated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include diagnostics, failure analysis, reporting, and customer-facing case management.

  • Perform in-depth electrical diagnostics using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power measurement tools, and bus analyzers to isolate component- and board-level failures.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical failure analysis on returned SSDs and NAND-based systems.
  • Interpret schematics and conduct board-level analysis and hands-on hardware repair or rework.
  • Collaborate with hardware design, firmware, and validation teams to reproduce anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Set up and manage debug systems for design-of-experiment (DOE) and error replication.
  • Lead customer RMA cases, provide technical updates, and serve as a technical liaison to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Generate and communicate comprehensive failure analysis reports.
  • Coach and mentor early-career engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • 3+ years of experience in product engineering, system engineering, validation, or quality assurance.
  • Proven experience with electrical debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and bus analyzers.
  • Hands-on electrical failure analysis at board and component level, including hardware repair or rework.
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power delivery, and component-level failure mechanisms for high-speed storage devices.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and perform board-level analysis for SSD and NAND-based systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in the storage industry and customer-facing technical roles.
  • Familiarity with PCIe, SATA, and bus tracing tools for system debugging.
  • Project coordination, time management, and willingness to work flexible hours or travel as needed.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electronics, Computer, or Systems Engineering or a related field is specified.
