Job Title
Staff EDA Tools Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development and integration of iterative timing-closure flows and related tool automation to achieve PPA (performance, power, area) convergence on advanced process nodes. Work across EDA vendors, foundry, and product teams to ensure deterministic PPA measurement and production-ready RTL-to-GDS workflows.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and integrate iterative timing-closure flows for advanced APR (automated place-and-route) to achieve PPA convergence on new process nodes/PDKs.
- Drive adoption and improvement of AI agents to accelerate PPA experiments and optimize RTL2GDS workflows.
- Plan and execute DTCO (design-technology co-optimization) experiments across multiple PPA objectives.
- Coordinate with foundry and internal platform teams to ensure platform entitlement is reflected in Technology Family Models (TFMs).
- Lead debugging and root-cause analysis for PPA non-determinism and regressions; engage EDA vendors and foundry partners to resolve issues.
- Define and align stakeholders on PPA measurement methodology; ensure deterministic measurement for each TFM release.
- Mentor and lead team members; rotate across projects to broaden technical depth and AI expertise.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 10+ years of industry experience in software development, data engineering, analytics, or AI-related roles.
- Proven track record driving PPA convergence and structural design (RTL-to-GDS) for multiple product tape-ins.
- Deep expertise with EDA design-construction tools, including practical knowledge of application options, commands, and tool configurations.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, and debugging skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication in English and demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with vendors and foundry teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience applying AI agents to EDA workflows.
- Hands-on experience running DTCO experiments across multiple PPA objectives.
Education Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
