Job Title

Staff Digital IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Member of a digital hardware development team working on optical Ethernet transceiver ASICs for datacenter and cloud applications. Responsible for RTL design, synthesis, timing closure, verification and support through post-silicon bring-up.

The team interfaces with backend, verification and customer teams to deliver multi-million-gate ASICs at advanced nodes.

Experience Level

Senior level. The role expects an experienced engineer (seniority implied by title and required experience).

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop high-speed datapath and control-plane RTL blocks using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Perform synthesis, static timing analysis and timing closure for advanced-node flows.
  • Conduct RTL lint, CDC analysis and formal equivalence checking.
  • Integrate and support vendor IP and collaborate with backend teams for implementation.
  • Participate in gate-level verification, post-silicon debug and lab correlation.
  • Contribute to ASIC specification, micro-architecture and CAD/EDA flow automation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in multi-million-gate digital/mixed-signal IC design at 16nm or smaller (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven RTL development and gate-level verification experience at block and subsystem levels.
  • Hands-on experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog; scripting with Python and Unix shell.
  • Familiarity with the full ASIC flow from micro-architecture through back-end and customer deployment.
  • Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis, CDC analysis and formal methods.
  • Experience with post-silicon debug and hardware bring-up.
  • Effective communication, presentation skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology (export-license review may apply).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field plus 5+ years' relevant experience; OR Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field with 3+ years' experience. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where stated.
