Job Title

Staff Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Staff Digital Design Engineer will design and deliver digital subsystems and IP for mixed-signal system-on-chip (SoC) devices used in consumer and embedded products. This role works on RTL and microarchitecture, collaborates with analog, verification, layout, and test teams, and supports tape‑out through silicon bring‑up.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Experience guidance: Bachelor's degree with 7+ years, Master's with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant digital IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include delivering RTL and supporting integration, verification, and silicon validation for mixed-signal SoCs.

  • Design and implement digital subsystems and IP from architecture through tape‑out.
  • Develop RTL using Verilog and integrate into larger SoC environments.
  • Design and verify DSP, control, and data‑path logic, including calibration and monitoring state machines.
  • Perform functional and integration verification and coordinate with UVM verification teams.
  • Contribute to behavioral and system modeling of digital and mixed‑signal functions.
  • Support post‑silicon validation, lab bring‑up, characterization, and silicon debug.
  • Collaborate with analog, layout, test, and other cross‑functional teams; participate in design reviews and root‑cause analysis.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Strong working knowledge of Verilog RTL design.
  • Solid understanding of digital design flow: microarchitecture and RTL development.
  • Experience with clock and reset domain crossing techniques.
  • Practical experience in functional verification and working with verification teams.
  • Familiarity with timing constraints, synthesis, and implementation considerations.
  • Experience designing and verifying complex state machines and control logic.
  • Familiarity with CMOS VLSI design fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast‑paced development environment.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

  • Expertise in digital signal processing (DSP) and implementation of FIR/IIR filters.
  • Familiarity with ARM‑based SoCs, buses, and peripherals.
  • Experience with mixed‑signal IC development and digital/analog interaction.
  • Exposure to low‑power and high‑performance ASIC design techniques and back‑end flows (synthesis, place & route, timing analysis).
  • Experience generating test vectors and supporting production or probe test environments.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, or similar tools for modeling and validation.
  • Strong lab and silicon validation skills, including silicon debug and characterization.

Education Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience guidelines provided: Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years relevant digital IC design experience; Master’s degree with 5+ years; PhD with 3+ years.
