Staff Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Electronic Sub-Systems team to define, implement, and validate digital microarchitecture for FPGA-based systems that support PsiQuantum's silicon photonics quantum computing hardware.

Your work will contribute directly to the development of scalable, fault-tolerant quantum systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • RTL design, debugging, and verification using Verilog/SystemVerilog for FPGAs.
  • FPGA synthesis, constraints, implementation, and timing closure.
  • Functional verification and debugging using simulation tools.
  • FPGA testing and validation in the laboratory to verify functionality and performance against specifications.
  • Analyze system requirements and produce digital microarchitecture definitions and documentation.
  • Collaborate with system architecture, software, and firmware teams across sites and time zones.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 10+ years of hands-on FPGA design experience, including RTL design, verification, and validation.
  • Strong experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Practical FPGA development experience with laboratory debugging and validation.
  • Experience with synthesis, constraints, and FPGA implementation flows.
  • Ability to interpret system specifications and contribute to microarchitecture design and documentation.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and strong communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field required. MS/PhD preferred.
