Job Title

Staff DFT Product Engineer (DFT/MBIST)

Role Summary

Senior product engineering role in the Test Group focused on Design for Test (DFT) and Memory Built-In Self-Test (MBIST). The role leads MBIST implementation, validation, silicon bring-up diagnostics, and drives next-generation DFT methodologies and AI-enabled features in Synopsys test products. Works closely with feature teams, solution architects, and customers to deliver production-ready test capabilities.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 7+ years industry experience with a Bachelor's, or 5+ years with a Master’s (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, customer engagement, and product validation:

  • Lead MBIST architecture definition, memory grouping, pattern generation, and silicon bring-up diagnostics and debug.
  • Design, prototype, and develop DFT methodologies and test suites to validate SMS (Memory BIST) tool features.
  • Provide deep technical expertise across design planning, implementation, and validation of Synopsys test products.
  • Drive early-adopter customer engagements, conduct flow reviews, and ensure technical readiness.
  • Collaborate with feature development teams to deliver AI-enabled DFT solutions and productize new capabilities.
  • Provide technical support, training, and account-level assistance to ensure customer success.
  • Assess customer methodologies, gather requirements, and propose tailored DFT/MBIST solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role:

  • Hands-on expertise in RTL design, DFT insertion, ATPG, and end-to-end MBIST solution development.
  • Deep understanding of memory architectures, fault models, MBIST algorithms, and repair strategies (hard/soft, eFuse-based flows).
  • Proven track record delivering Memory BIST solutions for large, complex SoCs with heterogeneous IP integration.
  • Working knowledge of industry test and debug standards such as IEEE 1149.1 (JTAG), IEEE 1500, and IEEE 1687 (IJTAG).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence teams and engage with customers.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience or exposure to automotive-grade MBIST designs and in-system test (IST) environments.
  • Prior involvement with AI-enabled DFT tooling or prototype workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline with 7+ years relevant industry experience, or Master’s degree in those fields with 5+ years relevant industry experience. The posting references degree plus years of experience as the baseline qualification.
