Staff DFT Engineer
EnCharge AIJob Title
Staff DFT Engineer
Role Summary
As a Staff DFT Engineer on the silicon team you will define and implement the end-to-end DFT strategy for EnCharge AIβs next-generation Edge AI accelerators, covering scan, MBIST, ATPG, hierarchical flows, and silicon bring-up. The role works closely with synthesis, STA, and ATE teams to ensure testability and drive yield improvements.
This is a high-impact startup position with ownership of DFT flows and tooling automation.
Experience Level
Senior β Staff-level. 9β10 years of hands-on DFT experience; experience in at least one full tape-out cycle preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing DFT strategy, producing test patterns, and leading silicon bring-up and yield debugging.
- Define and implement complete DFT architecture: Scan, MBIST, BSCAN, boundary scan, and test wrappers.
- Develop and manage DFT constraints and SDC for integration with synthesis and STA teams.
- Generate high-coverage ATPG patterns (stuck-at, transition, at-speed, path delay) and verify via timing-annotated simulation.
- Design hierarchical DFT flows for large SoCs to manage complexity.
- Collaborate with ATE teams to debug silicon patterns and drive yield improvement initiatives.
- Implement DFT techniques for Edge AI specifics, including HBM testing and low-power test modes.
- Automate DFT flows and integrations using scripting languages and tool-specific flows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and practical delivery evidence.
- 9β10 years DFT experience with at least one full tape-out in a lead/staff role.
- Expert with DFT tools such as Siemens Tessent, Synopsys DFTMAX/TetraMAX, Cadence Genus/Modus, or equivalent.
- Proven ATPG and simulation experience: stuck-at, transition, at-speed; timing-annotated verification.
- Experience with memory test and MBIST, and repair algorithms.
- Strong knowledge of DFT-centric STA, power-aware DFT, SDC/constraint management, and high-speed I/O testing.
- Experience with JTAG, IEEE 1149.x, IEEE 1500 wrappers, and boundary-scan flows.
- Proficient scripting skills (Tcl, Python, or Perl) for flow automation.
- Startup mentality: ability to take ownership, define processes, and work across disciplines.
Nice-to-have: prior experience with Edge AI accelerators, HBM testing specifics, or hierarchical DFT at large scale.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
