Staff Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical verification strategy and architecture for complex digital and mixed-signal ASIC designs. Provide hands-on leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with design teams to ensure verification closure and product quality. Role may require periodic travel (~10%).
Experience Level
Senior β preferred 7β10+ years of relevant digital design verification experience, with emphasis on mixed-signal verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining verification strategies, building verification environments, and driving closure across design cycles.
- Architect and lead verification strategy for complex digital and mixed-signal designs.
- Design and implement UVM-based verification environments to achieve comprehensive coverage.
- Mentor and develop junior verification engineers; provide technical guidance.
- Coordinate verification requirements and sign-off criteria with cross-functional design teams.
- Lead complex debugging across RTL and gate-level simulations and drive problem resolution.
- Drive functional and code coverage closure using coverage-driven methodologies.
- Lead post-silicon validation activities and support customers on technical issues.
- Represent the team to customers and industry partners on verification matters.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for performing the role effectively.
- Expert-level SystemVerilog and UVM for architecting advanced verification environments.
- Proven ability to develop test plans and coverage-driven verification strategies.
- Deep understanding of mixed-signal verification principles and methodologies.
- Advanced debugging skills across multiple design abstractions (RTL, gate-level).
- Extensive experience with EDA tools (Cadence/Synopsys) and familiarity with formal techniques.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell) for verification infrastructure.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to influence methodology adoption.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading customer-facing technical engagements and post-silicon problem resolution.
Education Requirements
Preferred: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
