Job Title

Staff Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Plan, build, and execute verification for microprocessor IP features to ensure no bugs reach final silicon. Work on a multi-site engineering team collaborating with architects, RTL designers, firmware and software engineers.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting specifies a minimum of 3+ years in design verification; role title indicates senior/Staff responsibility and cross-team leadership.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on functional verification, test development, automation, and cross-discipline debugging for high-speed processor IP.

  • Collaborate with architects, hardware and firmware engineers to define verification scope for new features.
  • Create test plans covering interactions with hardware, firmware, and software drivers.
  • Estimate verification effort and required test-environment changes.
  • Develop directed and constrained-random verification tests and C++ testbenches.
  • Debug test failures, determine root cause, and coordinate fixes with RTL and firmware teams.
  • Monitor functional and code coverage; add or modify tests to meet targets.
  • Develop automated regression infrastructure for functional verification at scale.
  • Develop interface assertions and coordinate with formal verification teams.

Requirements

Concise list of required and desirable technical skills, tools, and experience.

  • Must-have: 3+ years of hands-on design verification experience.
  • Proven experience with IP-level ASIC verification and RTL/firmware debugging using simulation tools.
  • Strong experience with Verilog and SystemVerilog and practical RTL verification techniques.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ and experience developing C++ testbenches; comfortable in Linux (and exposure to Windows).
  • Good communication skills and experience collaborating across sites and time zones.
  • Nice-to-have:
    • Experience with memory subsystems or other CPU unit verification.
    • Experience automating workflows in distributed compute environments and regression acceleration.
    • Exposure to simulation profiling, efficiency improvements, acceleration techniques, or HLS tools/processes.
    • Familiarity with formal verification, assertions, and scripting (Perl, Ruby, Makefile, shell).
    • Exposure to leadership or mentorship roles.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
