Staff Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Staff Design Engineer is responsible for block-level analog circuit design, transistor-level simulation, schematic capture, layout verification, post-layout extraction and simulation, and top-level integration and verification for analog/mixed-signal SOCs. The role collaborates with digital, system/algorithm, packaging/ESD, test, and application teams to ensure successful integration and product delivery.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 5+ years of experience in analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design.

Responsibilities

Accountable for design, verification, and integration activities, including:

• Block-level analog circuit design and transistor-level simulation.
• Schematic capture and design documentation.
• Layout verification, post-layout extraction, and post-layout simulation.
• Top-level integration and verification, including analog/digital interface checks.
• Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams (digital, system/algorithms, packaging/ESD, test/application).

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

• Must-have: Prior ADC design experience (SAR, Delta-Sigma, Counting, Pipelined).
• Must-have: Strong understanding of transistor-level analog and digital circuit theory and analog IC implementation skills focused on reducing design risk.
• Must-have: Proficiency with Cadence and/or Mentor design tools.
• Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication; self-motivated and effective working within multi-discipline teams.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with low-noise amplifiers, op-amps, or RF design.
• Nice-to-have: Layout design and extraction experience.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of digital design flow, digital systems, and analog/digital interface and integration.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with mixed-mode/system-level (AMS) simulation on SoC.

Education Requirements

Minimum: MSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering). Relevant field: analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design / electrical engineering. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design.
