Role Summary

The Staff Design Engineer will develop BAW and SAW filtering components for wireless RF products. The role covers acoustic and electromagnetic design, simulation, layout creation, device characterization, and transferring designs to production while working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, simulation, characterization, and production support for acoustic RF filters.

• Develop BAW and SAW filtering components for wireless RF applications.
• Define new products via feasibility studies and competitive technical analyses.
• Design microwave acoustic devices (bandpass, ladder, notch, CRF, acoustic-assisted filters, etc.) and support circuit-level integration.
• Perform acoustic and electromagnetic (EM) simulations using commercial and internal tools; produce final device layouts for photomask creation.
• Collaborate with process engineers and R&D to address fabrication process variations and capabilities.
• Work with characterization and test engineers to evaluate and diagnose devices using RF/microwave test equipment.
• Document product and design information and support transfer of new products to production.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design flow, methods, and cycle time.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• Practical RF circuit design experience (microwave resonator, filter, coupler, antenna, amplifier).
• EM simulation experience (HFSS or equivalent).
• Layout design and troubleshooting skills.
• Impedance matching and tuning; filter component evaluation and integration.
• RF device characterization and system-level measurement experience.
• Knowledge of microelectronic fabrication and high-volume manufacturing, including statistical analysis and process-improvement methods.
• Strong teamwork and written/verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Programming or scripting skills (Matlab or similar).
• Familiarity with wireless protocols and communication standards.
• Direct hands-on experience with BAW or SAW design (preferred).

Education Requirements

Specified: BSEE with ~5 years of relevant experience; MSEE with ~2–3 years of relevant experience; or a PhD. Degrees are in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related technical field).
