Staff Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design acoustic RF devices (SAW/BAW) in the 400 MHz–2.7 GHz range for applications such as 5G, LTE and Wi‑Fi. Work within the design team to perform simulation, layout, characterization and to improve design flow and cycle time.

Contribute technical expertise to product development and collaborate with test, layout and process teams to deliver production-ready acoustic filter devices.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role requires more than 5 years of experience designing/developing SAW/BAW devices.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, simulation, layout, test and process improvement for acoustic RF devices.

  • Design acoustic devices (400 MHz–2.7 GHz) using bandpass, ladder, coupled-resonator (CRF) and dual-mode SAW (DMS) filter techniques.
  • Perform acoustic and electromagnetic (EM) simulations using commercial and internal tools.
  • Produce device layouts and generate photomask sets.
  • Characterize and diagnose devices using RF/microwave test equipment.
  • Lead continuous improvement of design flow, methods and cycle time.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • More than 5 years of hands-on experience designing and developing SAW/BAW devices.
  • Experience with EM and circuit simulation tools such as HFSS, AWR and ADS.
  • Experience creating device layouts and generating photomask sets.
  • Experience with device characterization and diagnostics using RF/microwave test equipment.
  • Knowledge of acoustic filter design techniques and practical device implementation for mobile and wireless applications.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or equivalent technical undergraduate degree in engineering; engineering-related fields are preferred.
