Staff CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Senior CAD engineer on Marvell Central Engineering responsible for developing and maintaining place-and-route (P&R) automation and CAD platform workflows used across business units. The role leads flow development, deployment, and integration with existing CAD infrastructure.

Experience Level

Senior (Staff). Typical experience: 3–5 years related experience for Bachelor's holders; 2–3 years for Master's/PhD holders; equivalent professional experience considered.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities focus on P&R flow automation, deployment, and continuous improvement across design teams.

  • Develop and maintain advanced P&R flows to meet multiple business-unit requirements.
  • Deploy and support flows, including troubleshooting and updates.
  • Integrate flows and tools into the overall CAD platform in collaboration with other teams.
  • Design and implement automation and add-on tools for improved productivity.
  • Monitor process and tool evolution and enable new technologies in execution flows.
  • Document, centralize, and disseminate P&R methodology and best practices.
  • Work with EDA vendors to optimize tool usage and licenses.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional abilities for immediate contribution.

  • Recent hands-on experience with Cadence Innovus (2+ years preferred).
  • Proven tape-out experience at advanced nodes (7nm or below); familiarity with FinFET, dual patterning, and ULV challenges.
  • Strong scripting skills in Tcl and Python for flow development.
  • Experience with revision control systems such as git.
  • Demonstrated analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication; able to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Must be eligible to access export-controlled technology as required by U.S. export regulations.
  • Nice-to-have: experience deploying flows across multiple business units or familiarity with additional EDA tools and vendor integrations.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3–5 years of related professional experience; or a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2–3 years of related experience. Equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
