Staff ATE Test Engineer

Role Summary

Join Arm's Solutions Test Team to develop test capability for emerging process technologies across Cloud, Infrastructure, IoT and Automotive segments. The role leads ATE test strategy, program development and execution for characterization and production, working with IP, SoC, product and systems teams.

Focus areas include ATE software and hardware planning/execution, test bring-up, characterization, and test data capture and reporting.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 10+ years of semiconductor product development experience (bring-up, characterization, production).

Responsibilities

Lead test engineering activities from strategy through production release.

• Define and drive ATE test strategy for upcoming projects.
• Develop and implement ATE production and characterization plans.
• Design and maintain ATE test programs and test methods (ATPG/Scan, MBIST, HSIO, Sensors, Functional, etc.).
• Create test flows including implementation of binning strategy and pattern conversion.
• Maintain test program revision control and workflows (e.g., git, SVN).
• Coordinate ATE hardware requirements and vendor development (wafer probe cards, loadboards/sockets, thermal interfaces).
• Lead test bring-up, characterization, debug, and production qualification activities.
• Capture, validate and report test data; ensure correctness and traceability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, demonstrated project ownership, and collaboration experience.

• Proven ATE test program development experience (e.g., Advantest EXAScale-SMT8) covering bring-up, characterization, debug and production.
• Strong knowledge of DFT (Scan, MBIST, PHY BIST), fabrication processes and product qualification.
• Experience delivering projects end-to-end from architecture to production release.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external vendors.
• 10+ years in semiconductor product development focused on bring-up, characterization and production.
• Good analytical and debug skills; effective communicator across teams and time zones.

Nice-to-have:

• Unix, C++, Python, SmarTest, SmartRDI.
• Data analysis tools such as Excel, Tableau, JMP, YieldExplorer.
• Familiarity with IEEE 1149, 1500, 1687, 1838; Streaming Scan Network (SSN) and scan diagnostics.
• STIL pattern conversion techniques/tools and failure analysis experience.
• Knowledge of active thermal management.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
