Job Title
Staff ASICs Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead timing analysis and closure activities for complex subsystems within Qualcomm's ASIC engineering group. Work across design stages to validate constraints, correlate P&R and timing signoff tools, and support premium-tier SoC development on advanced process nodes.
Experience Level
Senior β the posting specifies seven years of progressive related experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver timing signoff and related physical-design activities across multiple operating modes and process corners; support design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
- Lead timing analysis for complex SoC subsystems and ensure timing closure across modes and corners.
- Validate timing constraints at multiple design stages and perform clock-tree analyses and early pipeline planning for critical interfaces.
- Develop and maintain flows and scripts to generate and access timing reports.
- Perform correlation between place-and-route tools and timing signoff tools; execute timing signoff activities.
- Generate and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for subsystems as needed.
- Contribute to design reviews, project meetings, and communicate development plans to stakeholders.
- Mentor and train junior team members.
Requirements
Key technical and professional requirements for successful candidates.
- Seven or more years of progressive experience in ASIC physical design, timing analysis, or related roles.
- Expertise in timing analysis, static timing analysis (STA), and timing signoff processes.
- Strong SoC design architecture knowledge and familiarity with subsystem-level timing challenges.
- Proficiency scripting to build flows and automate extraction of timing reports.
- Experience with clock-tree planning and closing critical interface timing.
- Experience correlating P&R results with timing signoff tools and producing ECOs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is specified. The posting also specifies seven years of progressive related experience.
