Role Summary

The Staff Applications Engineer supports Analog Devices' IVR (Empower) portfolio, focusing on vertical power delivery (VPD) and integrated voltage regulators (IVRs) for datacenter systems. The role leads product evaluation, system-level design-in, simulation, and board bring-up to enable customer production readiness.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership for customer-facing power-system solutions across evaluation, design, and production phases:

• Develop reference designs, schematics, PCB layout guidance, simulation models, and system-level performance models.
• Create demonstration platforms and custom board-level power solutions for high-current point-of-load applications.
• Collaborate with FAEs, product teams, and sales to translate customer requirements into power-system proposals.
• Analyze customer PDNs, boards, and packages using PDN, PI and FEM/CAD extraction tools to verify stability and performance.
• Build and correlate circuit and system simulations (e.g., SIMPLIS) and automate validation with Python.
• Support prototype evaluation, board bring-up, qualification, and production readiness, including root-cause analysis.
• Perform hands-on lab measurements with oscilloscopes, Bode plotters, load emulators and correlate with simulations.
• Provide technical guidance and reusable tools to enable Sales and FAEs to deploy ADI datacenter power solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Minimum 5 years in Power Applications Engineering validating products and full power-system PCB-level designs.
• At least 3 years designing DC‑DC converters, component selection, system analysis, and lab validation for PMICs and multiphase bucks (<1V, 300A+ applications).
• Hands-on lab experience with automated measurements and board bring-up; familiarity with Python for test automation.
• Experience in PCB design and layout optimization; Cadence Allegro preferred.
• Experience with circuit simulation and correlation using SPICE, SIMPLIS, MATLAB.
• Experience in PDN and power-integrity analysis using SI/PI tools such as Pathways or Sigrity.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience specifically with datacenter power delivery systems and high-current point-of-load designs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) in power electronics preferred.
