Job Title
Staff Application Engineer 6 STA / Signoff
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership and customer-facing application engineering for static timing analysis (STA), power integrity, signal integrity, and reliability signoff across advanced-node SoC and 3DIC designs. Support deployment, debugging, optimization, and adoption of Synopsys signoff tools and platforms while collaborating with product engineering to influence product improvements.
Work spans pre-sales and post-sales customer engagements, developing reusable solutions, best practices, and knowledge-base content to improve customer outcomes and internal capability.
Experience Level
Senior-level β requires 5+ years of semiconductor design experience (STA, timing closure, ECO, or PDN/EMIR).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical customer support, deployment, and product feedback.
- Deploy and support signoff solutions for customers and foundries (STA, PDN, SI, reliability).
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and optimization using tools such as PrimeTime, RedHawk-SC, PrimeClosure, PTECO, and Tweaker.
- Support deployment and adoption of the Synopsys Seascape platform.
- Lead customer engagements across pre-sales and post-sales phases and own issues end-to-end.
- Collaborate with product engineering to escalate, validate, and prioritize product improvements based on customer feedback.
- Develop knowledge-base articles, best practices, and reusable scripts/workflows.
- Train, mentor, and share expertise with customers and internal teams; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 5+ years in semiconductor design with expertise in STA, timing closure, ECO, or PDN/EMIR at block or SoC level.
- Hands-on experience with PrimeTime, RedHawk-SC (RHSC), PrimeClosure, PTECO, or Tweaker.
- Strong understanding of signoff flows, timing analysis, power integrity, and reliability signoff.
- Experience in customer-facing roles such as application engineering or customer engineering.
- Proven ability to debug complex design issues independently and drive them to resolution.
- Programming/scripting skills to automate workflows (e.g., Tcl, Python, or similar).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with advanced-node design flows and 3DIC design challenges.
- Prior leadership, project ownership, or technical influencer experience.
